COPY-MOVE FORGERY IN DIGITAL IMAGES

Nowadays, with the popularity of low-cost and high-resolution digital cameras, digital media is playing a more and more important role in our daily life, however, due to the sophisticated editing software (for example, Photoshop, 3D Max), digital images can be easily manipulated and altered without leaving visible clues, thus, it poses a serious social problem as to how much of their content can be trusted, whether it is authentic or tampered especially as a witness in a courtroom, insurance claims, and scientific fraud. An efficient and robust approach to detect such specific artifact is designed using Matlab. Firstly, the original image is divided into fixed-size blocks, and discrete cosine transform (DCT) is applied to each block, thus, the DCT coefficients represent each block. Secondly, each cosine transformed block is represented by a circle block and four features are extracted to reduce the dimension of each block. Finally, the feature vectors are lexicographically sorted, and duplicated image blocks will be matched by a preset threshold value. In order to make the algorithm more robust, some parameters are proposed to remove the wrong similar blocks. Matlab simulation results for various test images have shown in the below video and shows the design is robust to multiple copy-move forgeries.
