SIGNAL ADAPTIVE SUBBAND DECOMPOSITION FOR ADAPTIVE NOISE CANCELLATION

This design is based on adaptive noise cancellation where the signals involved are first decomposed in two subbands and adaptive filtering is performed separately for each subband signal. When the subband decomposition is performed such that the analysis filters compact most of the noise power in one subband and leaves almost no noise power in the other band, the adaptive filtering turns out to be more efficient than in the single channel case. Matlab simulation results using realistic signals that show the improvements when compared to a classical adaptive noise canceler.
