OPTIMAL ALLOCATION OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF DISTRIBUTED GENERATION IN RADIAL DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS
DESIGN DETAILS
This design is based on optimal allocation of distributed generation (DG) units in radial distribution networks (RDNs) to minimize the total loss in real power. Four different types of DG units are considered in the design.
1. Type 1: DG has the capability to inject active power only (e.g., Photovoltaic, micro turbines, fuel cells).
2. Type 2: DG has the capability to inject both active and reactive power (e.g., cogeneration, gas turbine, etc.).
3. Type 3: DG has the capability to inject reactive power only (e.g., synchronous compensators).
4. Type 4: DG has the capability to inject active power but consumes reactive power (e.g., induction generators in wind farms).
Load Conditions,
1.Light Load Type Value=0.5
2.Normal Load Type Value=0.75
3.Heavy Load Type Value=1
Using PSO optimization algorithm with Backward/Forward load flow method the design is tested on IEEE 114 Bus system to find the power loss, optimal location, and size. Matlab 2020a version is used to test the performance of the design.
