DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM LOSS REDUCTION, VOLTAGE PROFILE AND STABILITY IMPROVEMENT BY DETERMINING THE OPTIMAL SIZE AND LOCATION OF D-STATCOM

This project is designed based on optimal size and location. Distribution systems are always suffering from some important problems such as system loss, voltage profile, and stability. Many attempts have been made to improve these issues. The present research proposes using a D-STATCOM in distribution systems to reduce system loss and improve voltage profile and stability. Three indices have been considered in the problem formulations to achieve the aforementioned objectives. To implement the proposed method, a D-STATCOM is modelled in power flow calculations to compensate the reactive power and improve the system performance. The Particle Swarm Algorithm (PSO) and Backward-Forward power flow method are used to solve this optimization problem. Two IEEE standard systems, IEEE 33-bus, and 69-bus systems have been selected to implement the proposed method. The effectiveness of this approach is shown by simulation video using Matlab /Simulink.
