IMAGE MOSAICS ALGORITHM BASED ON FEATURE-BLOCK MATCHING USING HARRIS CORNERS

Because of its easy model-building, quick rendering and strong sense of reality, Image-Based Rendering can effectively solve the difficulties existing in traditional virtual reality technology and has become one of the research hotspots in recent years. The generation of the panoramic image is a key technology in Image-Based Rendering and panoramic image stitching has provided a good solution for it, which is to make seamless splicing on a series of ordinary boundary-overlapping images. This technology has been widely used in many fields including virtual reality and computer vision. Image mosaics algorithm based on feature-block matching is designed using Matlab. Edge detection is used to pick up base feature-block automatically and thus improves the precision of image stitching. In the problem of the searching matching block, a hierarchical search strategy is employed, which improves the speed of image stitching. Simulation results show the good result is gained.
